The Better Communication Research Programme (BCRP) is part of the Better Communication Action Plan, the Government’s response to the Bercow Review, published in 2008. The 2008 report reviewed services for children and young people with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and made recommendations to Government.

This 1st interim report provides information on the work of the BCRP that mainly took place during the period January - July 2010, with an emphasis on projects that would form the basis for the overall programme but which would also provide some useful interim information.

Includes:

  • Communication Supporting Classrooms Project
  • Best evidence on interventions
  • The academic progress of pupils with speech, language and communication needs
  • Economic effectiveness
  • Prospective longitudinal study
  • Preferred outcomes
  • Projects 2010-2011

Note: the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) has been replaced by the Department for Education (DFE)
