AbstractThis article will focus on light technology augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) for people who have recently experienced a stroke with resulting aphasia. The role of the speech therapist and occupational therapist in evaluation, implementation, and training will be addressed. Various AAC options based on level of function will be considered and discussed. The purpose of AAC for this population and its use in family training prior to discharge, communication with staff, and therapy will be highlighted.
